Why hello there 2012. I don't know how you're going to top 2011 but you can sure try. I had fun dressing up to ring in the new year and here is how I put together my sparkly look:

Decoupage Pumpkins

I'm not a big fan of carving pumpkins (too messy and they fall apart quickly). So I wanted to try something new. I saw some beautiful decoupaged pumpkins here and needed to try it. I printed out a couple fall patterns I designed and mod podged them into place. I think they turned out pretty. It was also a lot of fun and really easy. I'm hoping they will last longer too. I recommend getting pumpkins with good size stems (they look a lot nicer :)

I found two huge end tables out for the trash and decided to give them a makeover! The tops of the tables have their original finish, I painted the legs with Coastal Dusk, and the shelf with chalkboard paint. The chalkboard paint is great for allowing the style of the tables to be flexible. Easy to erase, you can change up the look of these pieces instantly. (I couldn't help myself... I had to draw flowers on them!) I think they would be perfect for a beach house, a basement playroom, or if you like changing up the style of a room often these will fit in perfectly. Forever21 has some great jewelry for very cheap. The only problem is the chains are a little too short for my taste. Solution: ribbon! Luckily I had some thin black ribbon that I simply sewed each end to the clasps of the necklace and then tied them together adding length to the necklace quickly, easily and cheaply!

For the past couple years I have been finding old pieces of furniture, and refinishing them. Well recently I have run out of room and time so therefore began posting things on ebay and craigslist. Within 2 months everything has been sold. Two basements and a huge storage facility worth of work Gone! grossing over a couple thousand I'm very surprised and happy. I have a few pieces im working on right now for my parents house and hopefully when I have my own home I can go crazy again. From here I am going to slow down with finding and refurbishing furniture to concentrating on textiles design. Woo Hoo!

I used to live in a very white apartment that I was not permitted to paint so on my downtime I came up with a solution, Post Its. Inspired by Post it Mario and the Post It Fireplace I created Post It orange slice for my kitchen. It's a very cheap and temporary way to brighten up a room.

So here it is! The necklace my boyfriends mom made for me. I picked out the design for the C and Barb cut the metal, sanded and buffed it. The necklace is so beautiful I wear it all the time and it goes with everything.

Bird Day Afternoon

After visiting my boyfriend (almost every weekend) at his parents house I come home inspired. His father is a painter and his mother makes jewelry. She is currently working on a necklace for me which I can't wait to wear. I also have done some metal work that I thought I'd share with you. The earrings are made out of silver, copper and brass wire which have been soldered together and covered in a patina. The bird is made from the same 3 metals with a textured tail and patina feathers.
